Categories, tags, and question sets

Start with questions, use categories as buckets, and attach tags to connect ideas.

Why use classifications?

You need people to know which question they are answering. You may also want to prepare groups before they contribute, find themes as ideas arrive, or evaluate the ideas later.

Stormz calls these structures classifications. They include question sets, categories, and tags.

Question sets

In Stormz, everything starts with a question. Every card is an answer to a question.

Each activity has one question set, with one question or several. For example: “What should we stop doing?”, “What should we keep doing?”, and “What should we start doing?”

Categories

Categories are buckets. A card goes in one bucket per category set.

You can have several category sets in the same activity. For example, a card could be in HR for Department responsible and High for Feasibility. Use categories to guide contributions, group similar ideas, classify them, or evaluate them.

Tags

Tags are labels you attach to a card. You can add as many as you need, from several tag sets.

For example, a card could have Time savings from Topics and HR and Marketing from Teams involved. Tags can connect cards in different buckets.

See Choose how to organize cards for more examples, or Tag cards automatically to add tags as new cards arrive.
