Place new cards on a map

Place new text cards on a map from the locations people mention.

The location automation finds a place in a new card and adds map coordinates to it.

For example, a card that says “Our next event should be in Nantes” can appear as a pin in Nantes on the Map view.

Turn on location resolution

  1. Open AI & Automations from the Facilitator Bar.
  2. Under When a card is created, turn on Resolve location from text.
  3. Select Apply changes.

Stormz now checks new stickies and fill-in answers in the current activity. Cards that already exist are not changed.

What Stormz does

For each new card, Stormz:

  1. looks for one place in the card text
  2. turns that place into map coordinates
  3. saves the location on the card

The card text stays unchanged.

If the text has no place, Stormz simply leaves the card without a map pin. Empty cards, image cards, and document cards are also skipped.

Get better results

Ask participants to include a city, region, country, or full address when the exact place matters.

Clear examples include:

  • Nantes, France
  • Near Alexanderplatz in Berlin
  • 221B Baker Street, London

When a place name could refer to several locations, adding the region or country helps Stormz choose the right one.

Use it with a map

A Map activity needs location data before it can display a card as a pin. Stormz warns facilitators when a Map view does not have the location automation enabled.

You can still keep cards that have no location. They simply do not appear as map pins.

AI & Bot Credits

Location resolution uses AI & Bot Credits. If there are not enough credits, Stormz keeps the participant's card and skips the location action.
