Ranking polls

A ranking poll asks each participant to put every prepared answer in order.

Use it when the order matters. For example: “Rank these projects from highest to lowest priority.”

Use multiple choice instead when participants should select several answers without ordering them.

Create a ranking poll

Follow Create a poll and choose Priority Ranking Poll. Enter the question, replace the example items, and put them in a sensible starting order.

Write the direction of the ranking in the question or instructions. “Highest to lowest priority” is clearer than “Rank these projects.”

What participants do

Every participant receives the complete list.

They can drag an item or use its up and down buttons to change the order. When the list represents their answer, they select Submit response.

A ranking response contains every item. Participants cannot submit a partial ranking.

Avoid very long lists. Participants must consider and order every item, which becomes harder as the list grows.

Use a correct order

Enable Use this order as the good answer when the ranking has an objectively correct sequence. The order shown in the Poll panel becomes the expected answer.

Leave it disabled when participants are expressing preferences or priorities. Those rankings have no single correct order.

You can show the expected order with the results or reveal it later.

Read the results

Stormz gives a higher score to items placed nearer the top. The result displays each item’s average score out of the number of items and orders the strongest average results first.

For example, in a four-item ranking, an item placed first receives more weight than one placed fourth. The combined result shows the group’s overall order rather than one participant’s list.

When a correct order is enabled and revealed, Stormz shows that expected sequence. The summary also reports how many participants submitted the complete correct order.

You can show the group ranking live or reveal it after everyone has submitted.
