Choose a poll format
A poll asks one question and collects a response from each participant. You prepare the possible answers before the activity begins.
The right format depends on what you want participants to do with those answers.
Choose the response you need
| Participants should… | Poll format |
|---|---|
| Choose one answer | Single choice |
| Choose several answers | Multiple choice |
| Put every answer in order | Ranking |
| Choose a point from 1 to 5 | Scale rating |
For example, use single choice for “Which topic should we discuss first?” Use multiple choice for “Which topics should the next meeting cover?” Use ranking when the order matters, and use scale rating for confidence, agreement, or satisfaction.
If participants need to write their own answers, create a card activity instead.
Create a poll
- Open Playlist in the Facilitator Bar.
- Select Add.
- Choose Single Choice Poll, Multiple Choice, Priority Ranking Poll, or Scale Rating Poll.
- Write the question.
- Replace the example choices, or set the two ends of the scale.
- Select Create activity.
The new poll is added to the workshop playlist. Start the activity when you are ready for participants to respond.
If you use a Stream Deck, Launch Activity Preset can add and launch the built-in Single Choice Poll and Scale Rating Poll presets. See Control your workshop with Stream Deck.
After creating the activity, see Change poll settings to edit choices, control responses, reveal results, or present the poll.
