Why stack cards with AI?

AI helps you stack cards faster, especially when there are many cards. You select the cards, and AI creates the stacks instead of you creating each one by hand.

You are letting AI decide which cards belong together. It may miss a connection or stack cards that you would keep separate.

Start with AI, then fine-tune the stacks by hand. Check the cards in each stack. Keep the stacks that make sense and adjust the others.

Choose how AI stacks cards

Near duplicates

Choose AI stacks near duplicates when cards express essentially the same idea in different words.

For example:

• “Send the agenda the day before the meeting.”
• “Share tomorrow's agenda today.”

These cards describe the same action. Putting them together can help prepare clear choices before a vote.

A card saying “Make meetings shorter” should stay separate. It concerns meetings too, but it suggests a different action.

Related ideas

Choose AI stacks related ideas when cards describe different parts of one specific idea.

For example:

• “Run a welcome session for new colleagues.”
• “Include a tour of our tools in the welcome session.”
• “Leave time for questions at the end of the welcome session.”

These contributions are different, but they develop the same idea. Near duplicates can also be included.

A shared topic alone is not enough. A suggestion for a mentoring programme should not join this stack just because it also concerns new colleagues.

Select cards and run AI stacking

You need to be a facilitator in a card activity.

1. Click a card, then Ctrl-click (Windows) or Cmd-click (Mac) the others you want AI to read.
2. Open the arrow beside Stack in the bottom toolbar.
3. Choose AI stacks near duplicates or AI stacks related ideas.

To work with the whole board, close any stack panel and click Select all cards.

Stormz creates the stacks straight away. Start with a few cards if you want to try it first.

You do not need to turn on related-card indexing. AI stacking reads the selected cards' titles and text, along with the activity and question instructions. This information is sent to an AI provider. It does not read the content of images.

Check and adjust the stacks

When the analysis finishes, Stormz reports how many stacks were created. Open their count stickers and read the cards inside.

Check whether the cards belong together and whether the top card represents the stack clearly. You can change the top card or remove cards just as you would in a stack you created yourself.

AI leaves existing stacks untouched. It also leaves cards separate when it does not find a suitable stack for them. Answers to different questions stay separate.

The result needs your judgement. Cards about a similar topic may still express different choices, especially when you are preparing a vote.

Limits and AI Credits

• Select between 2 and 300 cards. At least two must have text and not already belong to a stack.
• A resulting stack can contain up to 50 cards.
• Very long cards can exceed the text limit even within the card limit. Select fewer cards if Stormz asks you to. It does not shorten the text to make it fit.
• One completed analysis costs 2 AI Credits, regardless of the number of stacks it creates. This includes an analysis that finds no cards to stack together.
• If fewer than two eligible cards remain, no analysis runs and no credits are used.

If something goes wrong

No new stacks appeared: AI may not have found cards to stack together. Check that your selection includes at least two unstacked cards with text. You do not need to force every card into a stack.

Some stacks were skipped: cards or activity settings may have changed during the analysis. Other stacks may already have been saved. Check the board before running the action again.

Stormz asks you to refresh, or the action fails: refresh the board and inspect the cards first. Do not assume that nothing was saved, and do not immediately repeat the action.
